After learning about digital documents it sounds so simple that a digital document is any document that is created on a computer or digitally. Whether its a simple word doc or an advanced pdf file, I see a large scope for the use and teaching of digital documents in schools. Teacher programs, school newsletters, announcements, letters, reports combined with activities like publishing work and making class books are just some examples of how digital documents are and can be used in the school context.

Hi Lew,
I also learnt some things about digital documents this week. Having experienced both Word documents and pdf files in the past, I have never really stopped and considered the benefits of each. I was glad to learn how to change a document into a pdf and agree with you about the broad range of items that this can be used for within a school environment.
Hi Lew
I actually never really thought of a pdf as a ‘digital document’. I guess there are lots of skills that we have and can use on the computer but never thought of them as these types of resources.
In our tutorial, the group presented their digital documents using Artrage. It is a graphics program, kind of like ‘paint’ on a pc but so far developed and so many great skills that it doesn’t really compare. It is a great tool that children can use in the classroom, particularly linked to CAPA and you can download it for free!! I guess I never really look at exploring different programs to use, I just use what I have and manipulate it to make it work the way I want it to. Maybe now I will dig a little deeper!!
Hi Lew
I learnt so much from the digital documents presentation. Mainly how to change word documents to PDFs. Never knowing the advantages of PDF (just thinking they were more fancy) I always used word documents. But after learning the advantages such as the document can be smaller, it is compatible with all versions and for security I wanted to try it out.
So now on my word press site, all the links to work samples have been changed to PDFs
