E-books are something that I have rarely seen in schools. I remember during book week at the school I am teaching at one of the books I used was an e-book on an interactive whiteboard. This was the first experience I had had with an e-book and it was interesting to see the interest shown by students. The presentation on e-books gave me an insight on how to make e-books. I had never thought of using Microsoft powerpoint as a tool for creating e-books. I would like to know whether or not other people had experienced e-books in their classrooms?

Hi Lew,
I am amazed at the potential of e-books. I hadn’t actually come across them prior to the tutorial presentation, though will definitely be using them in my classroom. The ease at which they can be made on Microsoft Powerpoint was a strong positive, and I think it is a very interesting way of presenting information.
Hi Lew,
Like you I have not seen e-books utilised enough in the classroom! And that is the reason why before the presentation that night I never knew about such a fantastic idea to teach children narratives and other topics alike. It is a great idea to use if your classroom has an IWB as it is an interactive tool. When given the opportunity to teach narratives I will definitely use e-books as a strategy for implementing technolgy in literacy.
I think the only challenge that technology poses to me is how time consuming teaching it is. I can only imagine from the expereiences of learning about all this in our tutorials that it takes quite a long time for adults to get their heads around these topcis (and is understandable, as I am one of them!) but can you imagine what that is like for children? I am not sure it would be possible to be effectively taught on a casual day with such limited time in the one class. What do you think?
